Wiglett Knows How to Make a Splash! | Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet
Meet the Garden Eel Pokémon, Wiglett!
It may look like Diglett, but it’s a completely different species of Pokémon. Wiglett pokes a part of its body out of the sand to feed in the ocean.

Wiglett Knows How to Make a Splash! | Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet – Detailed Explanation
I’m pleased to live in a day and age where Wiglett exists.
I love that actual evolution is being acknowledged in the core gameplay. I love that Wiglett isn’t related at all to Diglett–it just convergently evolved the same body plan.
Let’s hear the opinions of even more gamers around the world!

The interaction with the diglett and wiglett is just so adorable it’s like two cousins meeting each other for the first time
Edit: wow this blew up for some reason
Wiglett…squeaks??!! Oh my goodness that’s so cute!! Even if I don’t end up using it, it’s still so cute!! And it was talking to the Diglett🙀😸😻
I love the wiglett isn’t related at all to diglett except in the way that they burrow under the ground. Its like how two divergent animals end up evolving to have similar traits despite being unrelated.
I actually like this guy a lot! Leaks made it sound like it’d literally be a blue diglett, glad it’s not; you can see the resemblance but also tell that it’s a new thing and that’s awesome. Hopefully its evo will be completely different from Dugtrio (as in not just three wiglett).
My party was already set, but someone has to go to a box for my dear Wiglett. I hardly knew it from the leaked/just in Japanese trailer, but it is already near and dear to my heart. It even has the most adorable dolphin-like cry! Palean Pokemon are almost all abosiltely awesome as far as revealed ones so far.
Wait a minute…it’s a water type…so is it supposed to be based on the underwater garden eel? Yeah, now it’s starting to make sense! Kudos to you, GameFreak!
They are so very cute and adorable! I love how they can stretch their heads out of the ground!
It makes me wonder what they look with the whole body when they aren’t in the ground of the water?
I agree it looks simple but something that’s all you want is something you already had just with a different coat of paint. I for one love it! Can’t wait to see the shiny!
He’s so goofy I love him!! He a long goofy bby boi!
Also I absolutely love the little convo Diglett And Wiglett has in the beginning. So wholesome. Thank you GameFreak for once again bringing us another adorable buddy we can add to our party!
I love it personally! I actually saw a post someone made before this, and I was worried because SO many people were calling it ugly and the “worst”, which I just don’t agree. I’m surprised to see so many people hold my feelings as well!
I hope its evolution is something more than just 3 Wiglets. Imagine if it evolved into a badass water serpent kind of like Jormungandr from Smite and turned into a Water/Dragon type. It wouldn’t have been too much of a stretch either because it is already based of a garden eel which is pretty much serpent looking.
One of the best things about dude is that he never takes credit for himself when he achieves something. He always respect us, the audience, and his team, and he is always polite in all of his videos. We congratulate ourselves on this achievement. More to come and everything to com
It’s freaking strange and disturbing…and I love it. The similar species concept is a really interesting real life term and I’m glad to see that it finally arrived to the Pokémon world! Can’t wait to see more Pokémon like these!
For ppl getting regional variations mixed with convergent
They are not the same, Regional variations are divergent species. (Example: mammoths and elephants) they are from the same family but evolved differently do to different climates etc.
Convergent is different families/species but evolved to have similar/same traits
(Ex: bat/birds)/diglett(mole)/wiglett(garden eel)
Diglett is my favorite pokemon and he always will but seeing wiglett makes me happy that they’re doing a little something different with diglett even if wigletts not a region variant or new evolution
Im glad they’re expanding the offshoot pokemon that kind of started in gen 3 with pokemon like Plusel and Minun, and Volbeat and Illumise. They’re just different enough to be their own thing.
If Wiglett ever were to evolve, I hope it ends up being a water/dragon type. A (group of) dragon(s) thats planted in the ground sounds quite interesting.
I really wanna see a Normal type diglett called Niglett, just not up against fighting type 🤔 love the diglett army growing also a husian diglett, grass type could be Giglett and he’s all smiles and giggles but still ferocious when needs to be.
I like that the concept of convergent evolution is being brought into the pokemon universe. This allows for a whole lot more design possibilities, could be exciting times ahead.
I might be alone here, but I actually like this idea – having a new Pokémon that has a lot of similarities to an existing one but is still its own thing – much more than regional variants.
I like how wiglett is like a brother Pokemon to diglett like not being a regional variant or a new evolution but being a new Pokemon that shares a ancestor but became different due to a new habitat and environment
I find it interesting that we now have a possible water typing? I mean it does live in the water, so I assume water type, also very cute to see it playing/talking to diglet, that is cute.
It gives me hope that I might actually enjoy S/V after how much US/UM turned me off of Pokémon.
I love Wiglett it has a cool inspiration being those burrowing eels (I forget the name). Probably my favourite Diglett form/evolution so far. Keep it coming Game Freak!
A Pokémon game where two variants of the same Pokémon are present in the same Pokémon game. Very cool! 😄 I love that idea! 😁
Edit: Or maybe they’re just related to each other (I didn’t look at their names closely until I posted my original comment). I wonder if all those Pikachu clones are related to each other. 🤔
Edit 2: Honestly, I like Wiglett better. 🪱
And I mean WAY better! Wiglett looks so cute! 🤍
Edit 3: You know, despite him not being one of my favorite Pokémon types (Ghost, Dark, and Poison), I still really like this Pokémon. 😁 In fact, I think I might put him on my team! 😄
I love wigglett so much, I’m going too catch it and make it be on my team permanently and name it wanda (as a reference too amphibia, wanda the water snake)
I am extremely curious to know what Wiglett is going to evolve into, if it has an evolution. It probably is going to be something pretty epic, considering it has enough differences from Diglett to potentially become something other than a slightly different Dugtrio.
Wiglett is to Diglett what basically wolves are to dogs, distant cousins looking a lot alike but being completely different species regardless. ^^
Finally getting an official trailer. I really want this as I don’t have a water type picked for my team yet. Will it be permanent? Maybe and then this will be the closest to me using a diglett.
I like that they’re taking old Pokémon and giving them something new (stir a bit the current meta, it also makes it look more like Pokémon are living creatures that truly adapt to their environment)
I got to say, it’s typing is the most interesting thing about it. I thought it would be water and ground, but it’s mono water type. It, like Diglett is weak to grass, but Wiglett is also weak to electric. Very interesting.
